ABOUT BRIAN STEWART

Brian Stewart is one of four generations of his family to work in the Scottish Newspaper industry. His family first worked in photography in 1903 and he is following in the footsteps of his brother, father, grandfather, and his grand fathers three brothers.

Starting his career in 1970 Brian worked in the darkroom at his parents house before moving with his brother Ian to a studio in Paisley's Glasgow Road. Later he moved to Paisley High Street where he took over Studio Orchard and continued to work there until 1980 when he closed the Studio and joined the staff of the Scotsman Newspaper in their Glasgow office.  Gaining  great experience in all areas of Newspaper Photography and winning several Press Photography Awards along the way Brian covered Glasgow and the West of Scotland for the paper for ten years. After returning from the 1990 World Cup in Italy he decided to leave the Scotsman and return to freelancing. Since then he has covered numerous sports and news events all over the world including the European Cup Final Seville & Manchester and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Currently working in and around Glasgow and the West of Scotland he is available for Press, PR and commercial work.
